About
Mostly, the JWare Free Software project is the product of a “team of one” aka Simone SM Cato. If you would like to contact me use the AntXtras SF.net tools (mail groups, issue tracker, feature requests, etc.).
JWare’s Brief Brief History
Started in 1997 as a part of a personal Java library project, “JWare/Libraries” was extracted as an public open source project in 2001. The original library project was eventually superseded by other open source offerings. Fortunately another project (AntXtras), based on the then up-and-coming Apache Ant project, had since matured and replaced the original library project as the main JWare project. AntXtras continues to evolve and today supports more than one successful offshoot projects.
This Site
The site is made possible because of the products provided by several open source projects and the lovely fixes and extensions donated by their many supporters and users. Hope I didn’t miss anyone!
| OS/FS Project | What | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| Dokuwiki | Wiki engine | Foundation for most of the JWare website (everything minus the generated Javadoc repositories). |
| Monobook for Dokuwiki | Wiki LAF template | Used instead of standard dokuwiki LAF which was a little too bare-bones even for me. |
| indexmenu, nbsp, boxes, code2, color, highlight, include, columns, baselink, uparrow, source, tags, pagelist, cloud | Wiki plugins | Navigation bar, column layout, tagging, extended markup, etc. Makes creating misc. kinds of content less painful without sacrificing the simplicity and maintainability offered by Dokuwiki. |
| FAMFAMFAM Icons and Fugue Icons | Icons, Bullets | Because I can’t draw… |
| Firefox, Thunderbird | Browser, E-Mail, | Because I couldn’t visualize all 100 pages of generated HTML at once… |
| GIMP | Image tweakage | Because IE6 + PNG icons require |
